“Develop a paradigm of effectiveness that is in harmony with natural law: P/PC Balance | P - Production, PC - Production Capability”
#Habit 1 - Be Proactive | Not reactive
On ability to be self-aware:
“In fact, until we take how we see ourselves (and how we see others) into account, we will be unable to understand how others see and feel about themselves and their world. Unaware, we will project our intentions on their behavior and call ourselves objective.”
Three social maps/theories of determinism:
- genetical determinism - we're conditioned by our genes
- psychic determinism - we're conditioned by our parents
- environmental determinism - we're conditioned by our environment
Also we have:
- imagination - the ability to create beyond our reality
- consciousness - a deep inner awareness of right and wrong, of the principles that govern our behavior, and a sense of the degree to which our thoughts and actions are in harmony with them
- independent will - the ability to act based on our self-awareness, free of all other influences
“By understanding the ability to be self-aware, we can see the the stimulus-response structure of these theories that are not in accordance with our human nature that separates us from an animal.”
“responsibility - response ability - the ability to chose a response”
“Difference between reactive and proactive people - The ability to subordinate an impulse to a value is the essence of the proactive person.”
“Reactive people are driven by feelings, by circumstances, by conditions, by their environment. Proactive people are driven by values— carefully thought about, selected and internalized values.”
The Proactive model:
- For a given stimulus, acknowledge the freedom of choice, make a value based choice or response.
